Metta Maine Custom Sewing is a small, independently owned sewing shop in Hope, Maine, specializing in marine canvas, cushions, repairs, and custom industrial sewing.

I have nearly 15 years of experience in the marine canvas industry, working on everything from straightforward repairs to completely custom projects. I enjoy the problem-solving that comes with this kind of work—figuring out how something should fit, function, and hold up to real use.

Because Metta Maine is a small shop, I work directly with my customers from the first conversation through the finished project. My approach is practical and straightforward, with an emphasis on good materials, careful workmanship, and making things that are built to last.

While most of my work is marine canvas and cushions, I also take on select custom sewing projects and repairs for outdoor gear and other heavy-duty or technical fabric applications.

The word metta means loving-kindness. I chose the name because it reflects something simple that I try to bring to both my work and my life: care for the things we make, the people we work with, and the world around us.
